Suddenly they are everywhere……

Suddenly you see them everywhere – on coffee cups, on the T, billboards, in magazines, on webpages and in retail stores.  All those in the cool crowd (you know who you are) are scanning these black and white boxes with their mobile phones.  Why?   It’s a type of barcode, called a QR code (Quick Response) redesigned in a 2D square that holds thousands of alphanumeric characters. These new bar codes have been designed to be read by web-enabled smartphones so that more information on the product or service can be quickly found.

How can I use them?

There are a number of apps in the   iPhone   App Store that can read QR Codes and most Android phones and  Blackberries  are able to read the codes right out of the box. All you need to do is launch the appropriate app , and point your phone’s camera at the QR code you want to scan. When you open the app on your phone, it will activate the camera on your phone and scan the QR code that appears on your screen.

Vargas & Vargas  Insurance is proud to announce that we are incorporating QR Codes into our business practices. A sample of one of our QR codes is shown at the top of this article.  You will start seeing these QR codes on our business cards, in our newsletters, and in our ads.  They will bring you to our website allowing you a more efficient way of accessing our services, as well as offering information on one of our many special and to win  FREE stuff contests!   So start scanning!

In Massachusetts, all drivers are required to register their vehicles and purchase compulsory auto insurance coverage. To ensure that drivers comply with state insurance laws, drivers must turn in their license plates before canceling their auto insurance policy. And if you are transferring your Vehicle’s ownership, it is your responsibility to properly register and insure the car before driving on state roads. Leaving your license plate on the car could make you liable for the actions of another driver.

A personal umbrella policy provides additional liability protection beyond the liability limits that you now carry on your home, renters, or condo insurance and auto insurance. If you are sued and exhaust your existing liability coverage, the umbrella policy will take care of the remainder up to the limit you selected.
